Chili cookoff

A few weeks ago I went to support our alumnae chapter's entry in a chili cookoff to raise money for "Make a Wish".  It is such a fun event and there were lots of participants.  For $5 you could buy a bowl and try as many types of chili as you wanted.  There were so many yummy ones!!  I even tried some that was made from deer meat.  My friend B put together everything you see here.  She did a great job!

Here are a few items at our station.

Beautiful yellow flowers

Fun toppings for the chili!
B's fabulous turkey chili!!
Here I am with my friend B at our station. The chili was so yummy!  Great job B!

Saturday night my friend E and I headed to the last Baylor game of the season.
I'm looking forward to cheering on our Bears in the Texas Bowl on December 29th.
Sic 'Em, Bears!!

Hope Gala

My sweet friend E works for this incredible Christian adoption agency.  Each year they have a gala fundraiser and I was so thrilled when she invited me to attend!  There was a wonderful silent auction and I had so much fun looking at all of the fun items to bid on.  Then, there was incredible food --yummy mashed potatoes, chips and dips, and incredible desserts!!  Then, we got to hear from people who have worked with the agency and see so many families who are a part of the ministry.
Here is E and her precious niece.

Isn't she adorable?

Here is our friend C with E's niece, too!

Thanks E for such a fun evening!!

Halloween Girls' Weekend

Over Halloween weekend, I stayed at my friend L's parents' house and helped her take care of four dogs while her parents were out of town.  It was quite the adventure.  L has an adorable bichon name Lola and her parents have two adorable bichon puppies named Lucy and Lida and a sweet black lab/airedale terrior mix named Libby.  I have never had a pet in my life (if you don't count a couple of goldfish), so I don't know how much help I was... :)
Friday night, L and I ventured to the downtown Garland square and ate at a Mexican food restaurant.  It was delicious!
The next morning L fixed the most delicious breakfast ever!!  Pumpkin spice coffee, yummy pancakes, scrambled eggs with tomato and basil, bacon..oh my goodness...so delish!

Just in case you didn't get enough close ups of the food!! :)
Here is precious Lida Rose...yes, from the song in "The Music Man"!

Sweet Lola

Lovable Lucy
Lola again!
After breakfast, we spent the day watching fun movies and I studied for a midterm.  Sometimes when you pick out movies at Blockbuster, they are not always as good as you hope, but all the movies we picked were really good!  I must admit that Baylor's victory over Texas on Saturday night was pretty big moment for the Bears!!  What a good game!
Sunday we went to church and ate lunch at this fun Italian restaurant.
Thanks L for such a fun weekend!!

One of the Best Days of My Life!!

Homecoming 2010 was seriously one of the best days of my life!!
It started out with the most fabulous surprise of my brother driving in from Nebraska to surprise my mom and me and go to the game!
Here we are before the game.
Then, we headed to Floyd Casey 2 1/2 hours before game time to see the March of the Bears!
Mom and I started going to this and it is so fun.  All the fans gather and form two lines to cheer on the team and the coaches as they get off the buses and go to the stadium.  It is always so fun to cheer on our Bears!  Some of these pictures are from two different games.
Our star quarterback Robert Griffin III and Danny Watkins
Incredible Receiver Kendall Wright
Kedrick Dial and Lanear Sampson
Kedrick is from my hometown!
Our Amazing Coach, Art Briles!!!
Bruiser getting the crowd fired up!
These last three pictures of March of the Bears are from the Homecoming game.
RG3 was named a Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week this season!!
Here is Byron Landor.  He was named a Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week this season, too!
After the March Mom and I went to the Baylor Sports Network tailgate.
A sweet lady at our table took our picture.
At the tailgate, we got to meet some fabulous Baylor people!
Here is Mom with Baylor legend, Grant Teaff.  We were so thrilled to get to visit with him!!
He is so gracious and kind.

Then, we got to meet Baylor President Ken Starr!!
He is such a fabulous leader and has done so much for Baylor.  It was so wonderful to meet him and his wife, too!
Well, after all of that excitement, Mom and I would have been happy if nothing else had happened that day, but the day wasn't over yet and we had a game to play!  At the tailgate they had a drawing for an iPad...and they drew my name!!!  I couldn't believe it!

Here I am with my prize.  So fun!!
Then, we went to the game!  I couldn't wait.  We played Kansas State and if we won the game, we would Bowl Eligible!!!
During warmups a little dog ran onto the field and a bunch of people were trying to catch it.
A great cursive Baylor by the BUGWB!!
Here are mom and me pregame.  My stomach was literally in knots.  This game was so important!!
Then, after a few plays, they called a delay of game because of the weather.  It rained buckets!!
Here are mom and me under the stands.  Thank goodness we got some rain ponchos!
Finally, it stopped raining and we watched some awesome football!!

Go Bears!!
Final Score: Baylor 47 Kansas State 42
We are BOWL BOUND!!!

The crowd rushed onto the field!  What an exciting day!!!
After the game we were so hungry from all that cheering, so we ate some delicious mexican food at Ninfa's.
Thanks for surprising us, Edwin!!
And thanks for the fun weekend visit, Mom!!
What a day!:)
