3 Ways to Make Your Husband Happy

This weekend, the mister and I enjoyed a low key, relaxing time.  Our summer so far has been busy with lots of fun-filled activity, so it was nice to hit the pause button and take it easy this weekend.  I also discovered some fun ways to make the hubs very happy along the way!

1.  Make this Casserole (trust me!)

I have had this Sausage, Biscuit, and Gravy Bake from Southern Living on my Pinterest board for some time now and just hadn't gotten around to making it.  Well, on Friday night as we were discussing the breakfast menu for the next morning, I happened across it again and realized we had milk on the brink of expiration and all the other required ingredients in the fridge!  Plus, the recipe was from Southern Living and I have never tasted a recipe from that amazing periodical that was anything less than fabulous, so I went to sleep with happy thoughts and a hungry tummy.

The recipe was pretty simple to put together.  It did require some scratch-made gravy, but I was up for the challenge.  I had never made gravy before, but it wasn't as scary as I thought it might be.  After browning the sausage (we did use turkey sausage, so that makes it healthy, right?!), you put the cooked sausage on a place and melt your butter in the same skillet.  Then, you add flour, whisk for a minute, add milk, salt, and pepper, bring to a boil and cook for two minutes, whisking the entire time.  Once the gravy is finished, add back the sausage and layer it up with the biscuit halves in a 9x13 and top with some cheese.  40 minutes in the oven and you will have the glorious wonder in the photo above and below.

I honestly could not get over how delicious it tasted.
Seriously, how do 7 ingredients create something so amazing?

And as you can see, I am not the only one who thought it was fabulous!

2.  Estate Sale Hunting

On his way to work Friday morning, the mister called with joy in his heart saying that an estate sale was happening down our street and would run through Saturday.  So Saturday morning with full tummies, we strolled down our street to take a look.  G walked carefully from room to room, taking in every item.  We found quite the treasure trove of seasonal decor in the garage and left with some new items to add to our home for fall and Easter.  I think what made him the most happy was the price -- a set of three decorative pumpkins and an Easter wreath all for $4.  Happy!  Happy!

3.  Go to the Janitorial Supply Aisle at Sam's Club

After the estate sale, we journeyed with my sweet mother-in-law to Sam's Club.  I will admit that this item on the list may not work for every husband to be happy, but let me just say that for my hubs, his eyes lit up like a kid at Christmas at the thought of looking at cleaning supplies in bulk.
Just look at his sweet face when he found this highly functional dust pan and broom set.
Hope he's good this year because Santa might just leave one of these under the tree!

There you have it, folks, 3 ways to make your husband very happy.

I might also include that we were invited to our dear friends' home on Saturday night and were served the most delightful creamy avocado chicken enchiladas I have ever eaten.  The meal included every other perfect food that would naturally accompany said enchiladas and we even had brownies for dessert.  I can take no credit for this meal, but rest assured, it did make my hubs very happy.  And after reviewing our gastronomical indulgences this weekend, may be part of the reason for a more "clean eating" menu next week. ;)

So in conclusion, for some couples "Happy Wife, Happy Life" is their mantra, but in our home it is "Happy Grady, Happy Lady". :)

Happy Monday!
