Happy Halloween!

Hearkening back to Halloweens past, I think my favorite part was pouring out my candy treasure chest of an orange plastic pumpkin onto my parents' breakfast room table and arranging the different confectionery delights into my own personal candy castle.
Perhaps I played a little too much Candyland as a child. :)

Hope your Halloween is filled with all treats and no tricks!

Weekend Recap!

This weekend was so fun!
Saturday, I went to Big D for a little shopping fun with my madre.  We started out with lunch at our favorite place in Neimans. :)
This chicken was delish!!

I may have also popped in to a few jewelry stores looking at wedding rings for Mr. G...
Here were a couple that I liked:

We'll see what Mr. G thinks ;)

After lunch, we spent a little time at Loft and Ann Taylor.

Next, Mom and I met my maid of honor at Nordstrom to look at a few bridesmaid dress options and buy my wedding shoes!!!  I LOVE the ones I found an think they go perfectly with my dress. :)
We needed the shoes because our next stop was my first fitting!
I couldn't wait to try my dress on again...and I still LOVE it. :)

After a late dinner at Blue Mesa with Mama, I was back on the road headed home.

Sunday was a fantastic day that begin with an incredible time of worship at church.
Then, I perused a local bridal show and found a fantastic string quartet for our big day.

But my absolute favorite part of Sunday was seeing this guy after he had been gone for 10 days!!
So good to be back together again! :)
Hope y'all have had a great Monday.  I'm about to dive into a little paper assignment for my class, so I will be spending the evening in the Psalms -- not a bad spot to rest. :)

Welcome Fall!

Hope y'all are enjoying a wonderful weekend.  We are experiencing a little bit of a cool front in our neck of the woods and it sure is nice!  I have had a fun, but busy weekend and I'll be sure and recap soon!!  I'm thinking a cup of hot cocoa might be just right today. :)

Hope you have a cozy Sunday wherever you are! :)

More Spring Randoms!

Another thing I found myself doing this Spring was spending some time outside in the beautiful weather studying.  Yes, I don't know if I have mentioned this before, but I am finishing up a Masters degree I have been working on part-time while I have been working full-time!  I graduate in December and am looking forward to moving on to the next chapter!! :)
One afternoon I found myself at a wonderful local coffeehouse and partook of a newly named Italian Soda called Lake Waco!  I had to try it to see what it tasted like and it was incredibly refreshing!! :)
I also spent an afternoon on campus with a picnic lunch and some schoolwork.
On a day like this, it was simply irresistible to study al fresco!!
Mr. G and I took part in our Friday night traditional movie night date!
We took in several good cinematic features, but on this night we saw Titanic in 3D and it was so good!!  I still remember watching it with one of my besties Megan when it came to theaters the first time.
We are also planning to go to the traveling Titanic exhibit in Fort Worth sometime soon.
I also discovered some favorite snacks.  This sparking cranberry juice is delish!!  I think I could drink it by the case -- so refreshing!!
I also found a love for mixing gummy bears in my popcorn!  :)  I'm a sweet and savory girl and this combo did not disappoint!
And I'll end with these little items that were a must have accessory for a San Jacinto day dinner Mr. G and I attended.  More details about that soon!! :)

Life

Three generations of Catherines photographed together in this photo, but a first name is not all that we share.  When you have the joy of living life with a grandmother, especially one so full of life herself, life is full and blessed.  My precious Muvie went to be with Jesus a month ago and I miss her.  I miss her very much.  Sometimes I forget she is not a phone call or car ride away and then I remember.  Although her physical presence is no longer on earth, I find myself reminded of her in words or phrases I say and thoughts and memories that continuously flit through my mind.  In this way, she is not gone from me, but continues to fill my life with her presence in the ways she has influenced who I am.  I hope to take some time on this blog to remember more details of her life, so I will have these stories with me always.  Though a loss like this is difficult, the caring presence of Christ is ever near and for that I am ever thankful.

Party Prep, Painting, & Pals!

Here's another rewind from the Spring!

I hosted a birthday luncheon for my mama in April and made a few preliminary trips to local establishments for some party prep!  One of my first stops was Wolfe's Wholesale Florist.  I thought it would be nice to have a few smaller fresh flower arrangements scattered along the tables at the party.  When I saw these adorable mercury glass vases, I knew they would be perfect.  We had fun talking about colors and flower options. :)
My next stop was Scribbles one of my favorite stationary stores to find Mom's invitations.  These are the ones we used (sorry for the sideways photo!).  I loved the way they looked!!
I'll do a post of its own about the party soon!
I'm afraid I also discovered these little treats this spring.  Oh my goodness -- so delish!
My friend Ashley and I also tried a fun new place called Painting with a Twist!
They have these little shops all over, so if there is one near you I would highly recommend it as a fun thing to try.  You go on the website of your local store and look at the calendar to see what paintings will be available that month and then you reserve a seat.  It's super easy to sign up and so fun!

You literally start with this blank canvas
And end up with a painting!  I have NO painting background, but the teachers guide you so well.  It is fun to see how each painting is a little unique, too!  I'm looking forward to my next visit. :)
And finally, I took this little instagram at a favorite local restaurant.  This appetizer is call The Trifecta and it totally lives up to its name.  I feel it is necessary to order one each time I go!
Over this particular Trifecta my friend Erin enjoyed a great time of catching up and I'm looking forward to another catch up visit with her tonight!
Happy Sunday everyone!

They Say It's Your Birthday...

Well, I had one of those little annual events celebrating my entrance on the planet this week.  It is so crazy to think that this is the last one I'll celebrate with the only last name I've known!!
Here's a little recap of my birthday fun:
Daisies from one of my besties!!  Totally made my day!
"Aren't daisies the friendliest flower?"
love that quote from You've Got Mail
Lunch at one of my favorite girly lunch places with my precious coworkers.
It is such a blessing to work with these ladies day in and day out!
Then, Mr. G treated me to a homemade dinner :)
Complete with my own pumpkin cheesecake cupcake!
I just love the fall treats that come with an October birthday :)
He also showered me with birthday treats, including this fabulous necklace!
I wore it today to cheer on the Bears!
It's my first birthday with my very own fiance and I would have to say I like it!
Next year I'll have a husband -- what in the world?!?! :)
Tonight, another bestie treated me to fantastic birthday dinner. :)
Thanks for making me feel so special!!
It's gonna be a crazy fun year! :)

Hope y'all are having a great weekend. :)
I have a lot to catch you all up on -- life has been busy,
but God's presence is mercifully faithful.
